Greg and I got to go skiing in January with Beartooth Powder Guides in the Beartooth Mountains, right along the border with Yellowstone National Park. We stayed two nights in the Mt. Zimmer Yurt north of Cooke City, skinning right from the door on day one and hopping lifts on snow machines to the boundary of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness on day two. I wrote the trip up for Backcountry.com's adventure blog, which you can see here. Greg produced a beautiful short film called "Out There" based on the journey, which Backcountry.com hosted on their YouTube channel here.
There is still snow waiting to be tracked in the Beartooths, and it'll last for a few more weeks. It's the Shangri-La of public land backcountry skiing. Get out there and get after it. -Elliott
